It all began from personal experience. As a child, I spent summers in Holland beside my grandmother, watching her transform fabric into beautiful, useful things, clothes, duvet covers, toys, memories. Those moments were more than just sewing lessons. They were lessons in patience, pride, and presence. Sewing became a lifelong connection to creativity and care. Years later, after studying fashion production and identifying a deep skills gap in garment construction, I created Sew Ready to share what I had been so fortunate to learn.
What I’ve come to understand is that sewing, when taught with heart and intention, does more than teach you how to make something. It builds confidence. It nurtures focus. It creates space to slow down and make with meaning. Sewing reminds us that our hands are powerful, that mistakes are part of the journey, and that creating something from scratch can change how we see ourselves.

What makes sewing so life-changing?

What would you say to someone just starting out?
Start simple, but stay curious. Even 20 minutes of sewing can ground your whole day. This isn’t about perfection or pressure, it’s about presence, progress, and giving yourself permission to learn. Sewing with care rather than rushing grants you a peace that will draw you in time and time again.
What’s the biggest shift you see in Members?
